Auditions: Love, Lies, & the Doctor’s Dilemma

The Tillamook Association for the Performing Arts (TAPA) is pleased to announce auditions for the comic farce “Love, Lies, & the Doctor’s Dilemma”, written by Michael Parker and Susan Parker. Auditions will be held Friday January 14 from 6:00-8:00 pm, and  Sunday January 16 from 2:00-4:00 pm, at The Barn Community Playhouse, 1204 Ivy Ave in Tillamook.

The play centers around Joan Scheller, a widow, and her gardener-turned-boyfriend, Sandy. Joan does not want her late husband’s sister, Olivia St. Claire, an aging movie star, to know about her relationship and concocts a tale that sets in motion a series of lies that create hilarious misunderstandings throughout the show. Adding to the comedic chaos, Vinny “the Enforcer” comes looking for Joan’s adult son Chris, who owes money to the mob for a gambling debt. And the young neighbor woman Rachael unknowingly leaves chaos in her wake. The characters interact with one another using Joan’s lies.

TAPA is looking for three (3) women and three (3) men to fill the cast of this show. Ages can be variable, although age 18+ is preferable. Casting will depend upon the chemistry of the actors who audition. In accordance with TAPA’s current covid policy, actors attending auditions must show proof of full covid vaccination to enter The Barn, or a negative covid test within the previous 72 hours of the audition.

Performances of Love, Lies, & the Doctor’s Dilemma are scheduled for April 15 through May 1, 2022. Auditions will be held at the Barn Community Playhouse at 12th and Ivy in Tillamook on Friday January 14 from 6:00 to 8:00PM and Sunday January 16 from 2:00 to 4:00PM. Prospective actors may choose one date or both. Rehearsal schedules will be determined after the cast is named.
